Är man forskare och skeptiskt inställd till domedagsprofetiorna som basuneras ut från klimatpanelen IPCC gör man sig icke besvär. För det första är det högst osannolikt att du får några anslag till din forskning, för det andra kommer du att bli aktivt motarbetad av en extremt välfinansierad elitgrupp som kommer göra sitt yttersta för att se till att du inte blir publicerad i en vetenskaplig tidskrift. Nej men så kan det väl inte vara, tänker du, vad har du för bevis?

If you think that Saiers is in the greenhouse skeptics camp, then, if we can find documentary evidence of this, we could go through official AGU channels to get him ousted.

Obviously, they found a solution to that–take over a journal! So what do we do about this? I think we have to stop considering ”Climate Research” as a legitimate peer-reviewed journal. Perhaps we should encourage our colleagues in the climate research community to no longer submit to, or cite papers in, this journal. We would also need to consider what we tell or request of our more reasonable colleagues who currently sit on the editorial board…

Mike’s idea to get editorial board members to resign will probably not work — must get rid of von Storch too, otherwise holes will eventually fill up with people like Legates, Balling, Lindzen, Michaels, Singer, etc. I have heard that the publishers are not happy with von Storch, so the above approach might remove that hurdle too.

I got a paper to review (submitted to the Journal of Agricultural, Biological, and Environmental Sciences), written by a Korean guy and someone from Berkeley, that claims that the method of reconstruction that we use in dendroclimatology (reverse regression) is wrong, biased, lousy, horrible, etc. They use your Tornetrask recon as the main whipping boy. (…) If published as is, this paper could really do some damage. It is also an ugly paper to review because it is rather mathematical, with a lot of Box-Jenkins stuff in it. It won’t be easy to dismiss out of hand as the math appears to be correct theoretically (…) I am really sorry but I have to nag about that review – Confidentially I now need a hard and if required extensive case for rejecting – to support Dave Stahle’s and really as soon as you can. Men trots detta kan man väl inte bortse från att IPCC har massor av forskarrapporter från välmeriterade forskare som publicerat sina resultat i respekterade tidskrifter, och dessa resultat är ju faktiskt i linje med de larmrapporter som klimatpanelen tagit fram? Dessutom är IPCC:s process för att sålla ut viktig information ”mycket robust”, som ordföranden och tantsnuskförfattaren Rajendra Pachauri uttryckt sig; kraven är hårda för att få med något i någon av IPCC:s rapporter.
Jo, visst är det så, men det gäller bara för forskare vars resultat inte stämmer med agendan. Har man skrivit en tillräckligt läskig klimathotsartikel är det inte så noga med källan.
- Climbing Magazine fick t.ex. med en ”undersökning” baserad på anekdoter från ett antal bergsklättrare som mycket riktigt lagt märke till att det är mindre is på bergen nu och att det var bättre förr i största allmänhet.
- En uppsats från en student och klimataktivist fick också vara med i rapporten.
- Påtryckargrupper som WWF och Greenpeace, som tjänar stora pengar på klimatlarmen, får också mer än gärna vara med och bidra med ”vetenskap”. Allt är välkommet så länge budskapet är det rätta.
